» Parents/Scouts

Please review the calendar of events for the next several months and discuss upcoming events with your Scout. I have heard Scouts say they need to check with their parents before they can commit to the event.  Sign ups are at meetings and Scouts need to know if they can participate

Welcome New Scouts
As February comes around we again have the pleasure of welcoming new scouts into our troop.  As new scouts, personal and specific attention will be provided to them to insure a fulfilling start to their lives in scouting.  New parents and scouts please be advised to check your E-Mails for current up-to-date information with the troop.
Troop Elections 02/28/17
Troop elections are right around the corner please start thinking of what positions you'd like to run for and what you may need for Rank Advancements. Remember taking on a leadership role comes with a commitment of attending the weekly meetings, the PLC Meetings, and monthly Camp-outs.

Communicating your ideas is key to becoming an effective leader and helping your troop run more efficiently, use your phone trees and the email list attached to these weekly emails to reach out to fellow scouts, leaders, and parents when help is needed.

A Scouts Reference to Local Plants and Animals
Mr. Anderson wrote a book for second and first class requirements! You can get your free download here from the Scout Resources page, Scout Links tab.
We're on Facebook!
Troop 85 has started a Facebook group in an effort to improve communication with our scouts, parents, and leaders. Questions, ideas, photographs, and events can be shared with the group as long as they abide by the Scout Oath and Law. If you have a Facebook account, please join us!
Training Opportunities
Scouts and leaders are always encouraged to check the upcoming training schedule and offerings through the Northeast Illinois Council website. Many sessions are held on a limited basis, with limited class sizes, so you will need to take advantage of them when they are held. Check the NEIC Training Page often for upcoming sessions, to ensure availability.
Easy Fund Raiser!
Please bring your empty printer cartridges to Troop meetings! The Troop can now earn $ for them!!
Interested in Scouting?
Why join scouting?
Scouting reinforces the skills and values we want our sons to learn while they're having fun. Click the Joining tab for more reasons.

How do I Join?
Boy Scouting is open to any boy between the ages of 11 and 18. For more information please feel free to drop us an email or visit one of our weekly meetings.

Scouting is for parents, too!
Active, committed Leaders and parents are the heart and soul of a successful Troop. You don't need to have any special abilities to make a huge difference in a young man's life. Volunteer to help at one of our many events; you'll be glad you did!

Parents are encouraged to come in and listen to announcements during closing at 8:15pm.
